Plastic injection molding cycle time is very important for working efficiency and cost-saving. Under precondition of ensuring products quality, it is necessary to shorten the relevant time as much as possible during plastic injection molding.Injection time and cooling time are critical in injection molding process, and they have a decisive impact on the quality of injection molded parts.

Injection time includes feeding time and holding time. Plastic parts with simple and small shape needing short holding time while big plastic parts or parts with thick wall will need longer holding time.

Cooling time is the cooling and solidification time of the plastic part after filling the melted resin. Plastic part’s thickness, material properties and mold temperature have impact for cooling time. Normally, based on ensuring no deformation, make cooling time as short as possible during injection moulding is critical for saving part unit cost.

Firstly, we can make mould design as simple as possible under condition of the mould quality is good enough for the required mould life.

Secondly, reduce the cooling cycle time as the cooling time takes around 80% off the whole injection molding cycle. Then, how to reduce the cooling cycle time? 1. Use steel with better thermal conductivity. 2. Fully checking and evaluate hot areas of the part structure when design the water channel. 3. Design a separate set of circulating water channels. 4. Using Be-Cu material or adding heat conduction pins. 5.The mold water channel should be as direct as possible and avoid the design of too many cooling wells and corners.

Fourthly, using cold water (not normal temperature water ) to shorten the cooling cycle timeAnd last, Pay attention on daily mould maintenance. The oil or dirty will reduce the cooling efficiency. Need to clean the mould cavity& core inserts and cooling channel regularly, and check the cooling water flow in start-up inspection.
